How they travel

Sunday, November 16th, 2008

Bed bugs like to hitch rides on anyone and anything. Clothing, shoes, purses, and luggage are all potential vehicles for bed bugs to move between rooms, buildings, or cities.

Public transportation can transmit bed bugs readily because many people don’t know they have an infestation until it is already severe.

Rental furniture or the trucks and blankets you use to move furniture can all harbor bed bugs. When getting new furniture, consider inspecting it thoroughly before moving it inside.

If you have bed bugs in one room, assume they are in other rooms as well and inspect accordingly.

Before Ridder Thermal heats your residence, we provide a checklist of items to be removed beforehand and do an inspection before the heating begins. For instance, pets and aerosol cans should be removed from the residence before a treatment. Your electronics, the contents of your refrigerator, and your furniture may all safely remain in the house.

How it works

Rather than using chemical pesticides, Ridder Thermal kills bed bugs by raising the temperature of the rooms being treated to over 120 degrees Fahrenheit. While this is completely safe for your residence, it quickly kills all bed bugs and their eggs.mattress-glove

Ridder Thermal uses industrial electric heaters and convection fans to heat the infected spaces. The heating happens quickly so that the bugs have no time to escape, and the temperature is maintained until every one of them is dead.

As a pleasant side effect, these heat treatments have been found to kill many other insects and also to remove odors.

Ridder Thermal is the easy, safe, and environmentally-friendly way to treat bed bug infestations.
